    Zanesfield Section of the Mad

Saturday, January 19, 2008, 11:57 AM EST [General]

    Hey All,

I just got in from fishing the Zanesfield Section of the Mad River,You can check out a few of the pic's in my "Zanesfield Section of the Mad" sub gallery if you want to see what the area is like. The river is low with only a few really good holes, if your traveling any distance I would fish from west Liberty South. This is a nice section of stream but is very short 153 to 10 (may be 300 yards) and bring the short stick for sure (my 7' 4 weight is in the shop so I had to fish a 9' eerrrrr what a pain as you can see from the picture you need to roll cast mostly but there isn't the water for it.) Still beat sitting at home though!!!

    Hey All

Sunday, December 2, 2007, 05:17 PM EST [General]

Here's a bit about Me and some fishing back ground.

I am originally from Michigan moving down to Bellefontaine OH. 3.5 years ago for a job at Honda R&D as a Suspension Designer, I've done a fare bit of Chartering for Salmon, Lake Trout and Steel Head. Mostly out of ST.Joseph and Ludington. My most favorite fishing though is for the mighty Bluegill with my fly rod.

I started out Fly Fishing around twenty years ago primarily fishing for Bass and Bluegill with my $15.00 Shakespear fiberglass rod and plastic reel that I bought at K-Mart( just to see what fly fishing was all about), Well the $15.00 gear sure took a big bump up,(I now love to fish a Orvis Super fine 7' 4wt with a Orvis Batten kill Reel, For the large species I go to a ST Croix 9' 7wt or Browning 9'6" 9wt) I must admit the big guns haven't been out of their tube in a long time. something I plan on correcting soon (Ohio Steelheading is on)..

I would of never thought that Ohio offered Trout fishing, but here to find out I live 15 minutes away from it. I would of never know if it wasn't for my insurance guy who got me up speed. I joined the local Chapter of T.U. Mad River Madmen and have been picking on the Browns at least once or twice a week after work.

Some recent personal achievements are: catching my first trout in Ohio, Catching my first Trout on a size #25 fly (hooked three that day), Catching my first trout at night (didn't know if I was wasting my time but they eat at night to), Catching my first trout on a nymph (hated nymphing ,had no confidence in fishing them and know thats about all I fish . Who would of thunk).
