A Ruff Week on the Mad

Monday, April 21, 2008, 08:17 PM EST [General]

Wow I fished Two afternoons last week with zeppo, nada, nothing goose egg. The Fish were jumping on Wednesday but could find anything they would eat in my box and Friday I didn't see a rise a few creek chubs swam by and that was as close to a fish as I got!!!

Anybody got any suggestions on this spring fishing thing???  I got the winter fish down but it's back to school for this time of year that's for certain!!!

    Well Hell,

I fished the Mad after work today for a hour with No strikes. The river is high and heavily stained after yesterdays rain.

If you plan to fish the Mad over the week end be expecting a slow day..

You're right. I need to get the line wet. However, driving 2 hours one way will be a little challenging. I noticed you have fly fished for bluegill and bass. I am near the licking river and would like to try for some smallmouth. This would get me to the water sooner. Do you have any suggestions for flies?

Your pictures of the Mad are intriguing. I will have to make a trip sooner than later.

Iam tied up some Apache Peacocks this winter. Got it off line at Matokuwapi.spaces.live.co... the pic. of the one there was tied by John Larson. Then I did some with a bead added behind the hackle. I think the bead will help keep the hackle stuck out and add a little wt. Help get it down on the days they like to stay deep mostly in early spring. I used brown olive bead want to do it with glass peacock bead and see what it looks like.

Hi Tim Ok you got me, what is a fullback? Or shouldn't I ask, looked in all my books, blank. It maybe better if I try to meet up with you and look at one. That way you can keep the secret.
