    Cumberland river 8/1-8/3

Went to the Cumberland river this past weekend w/ my fishing buddy Todd. The water temp. is in good shape thanks to the Army core of Eng. running the sluice for most of the day, even downstream about 8/9 miles it was still rather cool. Last year w/ the drought and the near trickle of release it really brought the water temps up and freeked all the fly fisherman and basic watershed conservationalists out! Things seem really great this year and the fishing has proven that along w/ that Fly Fisherman magazine article. Anyway the name of the game on most tailwaters midsummer is "midges" and we caught many fish ranging from 12-17 inces w/ most being rainbow mixed in w/ a few browns. All the fish seemed healthy and strong and a lot were caught on zebra's in the #16 range also some on other midge patterns of red or olive. All in all it was another great trip to the Cumby!
