    The Clinch-tailwater blues!

Monday, April 28, 2008, 04:05 PM CST [General]

Fished the Clinch over the weekend in TN. w/ my friend Todd. I have not been there in a couple of years mostly because the Cumberland has produced so well, also TN. had bloated their out of state license to $80 a year w/ trout stamp. Well, the weather wasn't exactly as forecasted and it seamed to keep the fish down near the "jailhouse" section for the sulpher hatch, which had also made their emergence sporadic at best. I took the fact of a few naturals on the water and minimal rises to go subsurface with an emerger which produced a few fish and one fat bow at 16inch. All in all the weekend was tough w/ few fish and rain, but i should note below the weir dam i did catch two small brookies(i have learned that the department of TN fish and wildlife had recently stocked these). It does interest me the stocking of brook trout (which i love), but i just hope the recent implemented slot limit brings qaulity fish back to this watershed!
