Duncan loop vs. improved clinch knot

Sunday, January 27, 2008, 07:54 AM MST [General]

I was attending a seminar by Charlie Meck and he mentioned that the duncan loop was one of the strongest knots to use and that the improved clinch was the worst. I have tested the two knots together by tying them and with larger mono the duncan seemed to be stronger but when I used 6x i found the imp. clinch to be stronger. Does anybody know if I need to use more than five wraps when using smaller tippet. and does anybody know a good site to see the duncan loop tied so I know that I am tying it correctly.

His book said five wraps, but to wet the mono / floro. before clinching either knot.
ie,spit, river, beer. I found my knots letting go with tension till I started wetting them. Did you attend his seminar at the fly fishing show in Denver Jan,06/2008?
