Duncan loop vs. improved clinch knot

Sunday, January 27, 2008, 07:54 AM MST [General]

I was attending a seminar by Charlie Meck and he mentioned that the duncan loop was one of the strongest knots to use and that the improved clinch was the worst. I have tested the two knots together by tying them and with larger mono the duncan seemed to be stronger but when I used 6x i found the imp. clinch to be stronger. Does anybody know if I need to use more than five wraps when using smaller tippet. and does anybody know a good site to see the duncan loop tied so I know that I am tying it correctly.

Flyfishing is more than catching fish

Thursday, January 24, 2008, 08:25 PM MST [General]

Flyfishishing is more than catching fish.  I grew up bait fishing with my father in South Dakota and have gained many experiences and life truths through fishing.  I am know an avid flyfisherman and guide here in CO. I grew up in Wyo. and never appreciated the solitude and great fishing there until I moved away.  Many of my friends have picked up the sport and even though we may live many miles apart we always find a way to get a few fishing trips in a year sometimes drinking more than we fish.  Fishing is an excuse to get together and have a good time talking, drinking and fishing.  Like the great license plate says a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work.
