With all the great fishing oppurtunities in colorado I thought that we could have a group that can take on all the aspects of fishing in colorado. I was hoping we could share some of our hot spots, flies, and techniques. I would like this group to be a broad group that would discuss any issues that affect fishing in Colo.

The weather finally was nice enough to brave a trip to the river yesterday.  I chose to fish close to Silverthorne on the Blue river. The snow was deep and the river was low, the fish like they do in the winter seemed to be stacked up in the deeper holes which made fishing easier since I didn't have to cover alot of water. I have spent much of the cold winter tying flies and I was excited to try some of the patterns that I was tying.  I only had a couple of hours and concentrated on one deep hole.  I was fortunate enough to land three bows one of which was a 19' football!  I tried three different colors of midges and all the fish I landed were on a hot pink rs2 size 20#.  Other anglers were out fishing shrimp without much luck. I think the real key is to get the fly down to the bottom where the fish are just hanging out waiting for an oppurtunity.  I nymphed with two flies and two split shots about 18" above the first fly.   Hope to get out soon and have another report. I also hope this will help other anglers. If you have any reports to add about colo. fishing please leave us a report.
